Removing clams from rocks

I set up an additional tank with MH lights which is going to be SPS and clams only. So i have to take all the SPS and one clam out of my current tank that only has PCs on it. the clam has been in that tank for ~3 years and is stuck to a very large rock that is not going to come out with out messing alot of stuff up. So i was wondering how i remove the clam from the rock without hurning or killing it so it can thrive under the MH lights.

BTW its a 5" crocea

tip the clam to one side so that you can see the byssal threads then take a razor and cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can.the clam wont feel a thing as the threads dont have any nerve endings or blood flow.
