removing hair algae from dry rocks

I took down my tank and will be restarting a new tank. The rocks I had were covered in hair algae. I left the rocks out in the sun to dry and the hair algae all turned white. However, I still have a hard time pulling them all off. How can I get the rocks clean and reuse in my new tank?

try boiling the rock in a big pot the scrubbing it with a wire brush thats what did it for me

I dipped mine in a bucket of muriatic acid diluted with water, left them in for a few minutes. Made the mistake of leaving in for too long on the first ones, the acid totally dissolved the rock.

if your to lazy for the above, you can let em sit in a closed tub with saltwater for a month or 2.

Is "cooking the rock" leaving it in a closed tub of saltwater? do you still heat and circulate?

Yup... Many how-to cooking posts, so no sense of me duplicating them, but essentially that is correct.

I would soak the rock over night or until they quit bubbling in the acid or a 1:1 vinegar and water solution
