Removing some live rock, problematic?

Guys,

I have a 75 gallon sps reef that I'm looking to reaquascape. I currently have about 75 lbs of live rock and 30 other lbs of base rock thats been seeding for about 3 months(you can barely tell the difference now). I've decided I want a more open look with less rock. The only filtration I use is the lr and skimmer..Is it safe to remove 20-30 lbs of live rock this weekend? Will my biological filtration temporarily be insuffcient? Thanks for your opinions.

Personally, I would remove 10 to 15 lbs at first and monitor your ammonia levels for a couple of weeks. Then if no ammonia spike, you can remove the other 10 to 15 lbs.

I believe the recommended is 1 to 1.5 lbs of live rock per gallon, but it must be able to process the waste produced by the fish. So depending on how established your live rock is will determine how much is ultimately needed to maintain safe levels of ammonia. :)
