Return pump question?

I just brought my 75 gal home from my LFS. Now I get to start buying equipment for it. My LFS told me that the return pump he wants to sell me is the Rio 2500. My question is, is there a pump that has just as good output at a lower wattage? The Rio 2500 uses 55 watts so I was looking to cut back on that if I could and still get roughly the same flow.

First off, STAY AWAY FROM RIO'S!! They are very well known for crashing tanks. I just replaced my Rio 2200 with a Quiet One pump. If you are looking for something that uses less power try looking at the Quiet One pumps. They do have thier problems as well though. They have a problem of not starting back up after you turn them off; and they are not really that quiet. However, they are far better than a Rio. I wanted to get an Ehiem because they are one of the best but I just couldn't afford it right away. You can also try looking at Mag Drive pumps, they are pretty good as well but use a little bit more power.

Bottom line, anything else is better than a Rio.

I have used Rio for sometime without any problems but operate a 2100 to keep wattage down as the pump is only 30 watts. And I run without restrictions 3/4" or 1" tubing flow is excellent and work well with overflows that are only 1".
FYI Rio 2200 does not exsit

I have a mag 7 on my return from the sump and it works great. It does do a little too much volume but pump works great. Also bouught it ebay for about 60 bucks brand new!!!!
