Return pump turnover question

My LFS dealer sold me a 500gph Mag Drive pump for my return on my 90 gal Megaflow tank. Is this enough flow???

That's not enough total flow, but it's probably fine for your return pump. I wouldn't try to use the return pump as the sole source of flow in most any system. A closed loop or powerheads are two ways of adding more flow.

I agree, 500 gph is plenty enough going through the overflow, but you will want to add some powerheads for additional flow.

MJ 900 versus 1200

MJ 900 versus 1200

FWIW, i'd go with 4 MJ 900s instead of 3 1200s. two reasons: 1). MJ 900 puts out 230 gph, the 1200 puts out 295 gph--not a huge difference IMO. 2) MJ900 draws only 8.5 watts power; the 1200 draws 20 watts.

thus, you could do 4 MJ900s with one in each corner (drawing a total of 34 watts and pushing over 900 gph) which would have more flow (simply put more GPH) and less power consumption than even 2 MJ 1200s.

but that's just my opinion and as we all know, opinoins are like [profanity], everyone has one! :)
