Ricordia/Rhodactis Sactiomade (spelling)(St. Thomas Ric) question?

I think Scuda is asking sanctithomae. Sanctithomae is discosoma, but some are discussing it is rhodactis. But surely it is not ricordea.

Sanctithomae is not hard to keep.

Discosoma sanctithomae is pretty straightforward to keep, decent light, feed once a week or so with chunky seafood.

I have gotten a few of these and they ship okay but are better when attached to rubble.

They often spill their guts out but under low flow and low light during acclimation they usually tuck everything back in and will make it okay.

I find them to not be as prolific as other discosomas.. like the common green\purples without bumps that can spread seemingly overnight.. I have one that looks like it *might* be making a baby but so far its the only one :( Taking its time too. I still can't tell if its just a weird angle on its foot or a baby.

Once you get them in the tank, pretty easy to keep.

I've had 1 caribbean Discosoma for 3 years. It has been quite hearty, but it has never split on its own. I cut it once,it was a 75/25 split and the smaller piece did not make it.

I haven't tried to split mine but you can see the ones i have on flickr.com/photos/christie where i keep my tank pics .. one of my most favorite corals

I prop them by slicing the outstretched foot, it grows a new head in 2-3 weeks.

are you saying you cut them off the foot? or are you propagating them
by splitting them in half at the center mouth like other mushrooms?

Heres mine:

when they're outstretched/on the move, I cut the chubby folds at the base of the foot. the mother usually moves over in reaction, and the blob grows a new head. If there's multiple folds, I'll sometimes make the multiple cuts, but usually no more than 2-3 at a time.

Hmmm, I just googled Discosoma sanctithomae and clicked on "images" and about 60 pictures of all different colors and shapes came up, however, none looked like yours, which I would call a Bubble Mushroom. Is that what Discosoma sanctithomae is?

That one looks like the not-red ones that I have.. I've seen them in blue\green\lavender colors

My favorite are the blue\gren with the red tips!!!
