RMRC - New Reefers Meeting

Ben - gotcha

Al - you can bring the kids if you want as I know BCjack is as well. Prime rib medium rare, perhaps some yukon gold potatoes, casesar salad fresh anchovies of course and some chocolote mousse for dessert would be awesome.

I will also have some of Anthony Calfo's posters available. If anyone wants them, they are autographed and look quite nice. I had a group order and tired of holding it. Probably raffle off a couple bags of PE Mysis too and if time allows make a small closed loop.

I will try to make it, Kip. I am stuck in Chicago now with weather issues on my return flight. I'll give you a call tomorrow and let you know. Hope I can be there.

Can't make it Kip, have a pool tourney in Denver.
I went to the two shops we spoke about today. I will never say Denizens is not clean again.

Hope you get home soon Christina. Also would be good to have you at the meeting as long as it works, just get home safe ok?

Steve, you will be missed. your expertise, comments and humor are always of great value.

Really, did you find anything cool in them? I am going to start bringing my corals spread all over the place home finally. I think the tank is ready enough again for them. You want to swing by with the corals before you go?

I would love to attend one of these however I have a birthday party to take my son to tomorrow (3/18) and I work every Sunday :(

One of these days I'll make a meeting!

Bummer Janel,

the meeting tomorrow is at 6pm if that makes it easier and the party is done. You are also welcome to bring him too.

Kip

I'll be leaving in the morn. but Sun is a poss. if you want. There were a couple of clams and a giant brain that were cool. First place we went to on 28th had alot of sps and he said he was getting a large shippment next week. Alot of stuff, most looked real healthy unlike the other store. Needless to say it was the first and last time in the store on Arapohoe.
Steve

Chris,

I plan on coming to the meeting today (with Kiznile). I dont get off work till 2:30, so we will be a bit late.

Allan

Whenever you can make it will be fine. I have beverages, chips and cookies for snacking so there is no need for anything else. Unless of course, you desire a specific snack to munch on.

I'll see everyone soon.

Cris

Cris,

Thanks for having us over to your house along with the information you gave. Your tank is amazing. I can only hope to get mine looking that good!

Hello all. Would like some information on how to join club. Just found site and have heard good things about this club. Please let me know who and how to contact and join. Thanks Bill

Bill, welcome to the CRMRC forum and Reef Central. Currently there is no formal process or fees for joining a local club, just show up at a meeting and get your name on the list. Being from Wyoming the closest club to you would be NCAS (Northern Colorado Aquarists' Society) which is based in northern Colorado (Ft Collins). NCAS is a great group of reefers that typically meets once a month at a local reefers home. All of the meetings are posted here in this forum so keep checking back.

RMRC (Rocky Mountain Reef Club) is currently "under construction". There are a group of reefers that are currently re-organizing the club in an attempt to make the club better. Their hope is to structure the club in such a fashion that they will hold an event every other month and hopefully be able to host more speaking events (both local speakers and speakers from across the country), introduce member benefits (at local fish stores as well as online vendors), hold workshops, and an annual frag swap (which by the way is tentatively scheduled for April). So there are possibly good things on the horizons for RMRC.

There is also a newly formed "Metro Club" that is located in Denver. They are still in the formation stages but they have a great guy heading up the club so it should turn out to be a great club. My understanding is they plan to hold monthly meetings.

SCMAS (Southern Colorado Marine Aquarist Society) is a club located in Colorado Springs. They used to share this forum but a couple of members from SCMAS and RMRC exchanged words, had a falling out, and they started their own forum here on RC (Reef Central). They also meet once a month and the meetings are posted on their forum (link below).

So as you can see there are many options for Colorado and the surrounding areas and you can find a meeting just about every week of the month, although you may have to drive a few miles to get there. So once again welcome and keep checking back for dates of upcoming meetings/events.

It's April!

Any idea on when the frag swap may take place? Also, what are the requirements for space, (how much sqftage is needed)?
