RMS XR30 Tank Mount

OK, so what's the deal with these new mounting brackets? Can't seem to find them in stock anywhere. Anyone know when or where I can get them? Thanks!

Thanks, I check your two featured online dealers (BRS & Marinedepot) daily and they both have been continually out of stock. I tried to order directly from you (Ecotech) but was told the RMS is one of the items you only sell through third party retailers.

Just trying to figure out when someone will have them so I can mount my Radion Pro 30's that have been sitting on the counter for weeks now. :(

Edit: Just checked every one of your authorized US retailers and they all say something different about when they expect to get them (from 3-4 days to 3-4 weeks) or do not list them as for sale at all on their websites.

I just was on Marine Depots site and they have them in stock (As of 2:36 MST).

Ecotech when will the Multiple RMS stuff be available. I.E. Extended rail sizes, and the U shaped mounting brackets?
Furthermore, will the Multiple RMS stuff require the purchase of 2 single RMS to get the curved bracket? I will say that it would be a little crazy to spend 100$ for a kit and only use one piece of it.

I can't provide a specific date at this time, but they will be available within the next few months. Keep an eye on our website for more info!

I found a pair of XR30's at TBAquatics.com and should have them this week. I think the 30W verion is recommended for that width of tank, but I'm sure some other here can tell you for sure.

To EcoTech or anyone who has received an RMS:

What is the purpose of the small foam-ish pad with one adhesive side in the shape of the clamp/clamp chop? Should I be using this somehow on my rimless tank? There is no mention of it in the manual/directions.

Ditto, I just installed my RMS yesterday and have the same question. Based on it's shape I assume it goes on one side or the other on the bracket that clamps to the tank. My guess it is supposed to be used on tanks that are not rimless where you have to use the spacer.

Yeah, I'm fairly confident that it's supposed to go with the clamp based on the shape, like you said. Since the clamp is such a hard material, I was wondering whether it was supposed to be used as a spacer to protect the glass on all tanks?

Agreed, I think there should be 2 pieces of that foam/rubber so you can cover both sides of the clamp. The directions are pretty bad, luckily it's not difficult to figure out. They also don't mention that piece of rubber that goes over the exposed screw on the clamp either.

I got one last week and had a hard time getting the bracket holes to line up with the holes on the radion. One hole was off a little making one screw not go in straight. I tried many different ways to get it to line up and couldn't. My light also hangs crooked and I had to raise one side where it clamps on tank to make it level. I put a level on tank glass and it's perfectly level. So it has to be the clamp mount. Not a big deal, but for $99 is should be perfect. I'm also going to cut the clamp screw down as its way too long and looks like crap sticking out even with the black rubber cover. Other than that it's way better than the hanging kit.

Ecotech should also consider having the power cable come out the back middle edge of the light so you can hide the whole cord and not have the first few inches sticking up/looped over to the rail.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to place the power cable to where it doesn't look like this...

Not really... The bracket needs to have a slot cut into the side so the cord does not have to go up and over the bracket to fit into the cord channel. The best fix would be if the power cord came out of the light in the back center of the light fixture versus the side.

As you can see below I have my cord sticking up rather than pushed more below the light like yours appears to be. Not sure that's any better but my tank sits pretty high so from a sitting position in my living room where I have my tank the cord is not visible. I don't think Ecotech put a whole lot of thought into hiding the cord when they designed the bracket.

If you go to 1:47 in the video below it shows how Ecotech runs the power cord. If you take a little time to manipulate the cord and get a "tighter" fit we could both do a little better job at hiding the cord more. However, I still think a cord slot cut into the side of the bracket would be nice. Not sure who much that would effect the rigidity of the bracket.
