RO/DI help

Hey all...

I sure wish the search engine was working.

I currently have a 120 gal fowlr and and a few corals. I do a 10gal water change every week.

I'm currently using distllied water that I have delivered. It's expensive, but I thought it was the best way to go since my home doesn't have the greatest water pressure.

Well...it's just too costly to continue using distilled, and from what I understand...distilled is not always perfect either.

I've got my eye on a Kent Pure-flo II 100gpd with pump. They advertise that it's ideal for homes with low water pressure.

1) Does anybody have any experience with this system?
2) Are there other models I should be considering for low water pressure homes?
3) What is a realistic figure for water production from this unit? 50gpd?

Thanks for everyones help! This site is great!

Herm,

I have no experience with that unit. I have the AirWaterIce Typhoon III. Stay away from 100 gpd units as they use a RO membrane that only has a 90% rejection rate. 75 gpd units have a 98% rejection membrane. By using a higher rejection rate membrane, your DI unit doesn't have to work as hard.

As for your low pressure, look into a booster pump to up your input pressure. AirWaterIce sells them for about $179, but you can find the same one on eBay for $80.
