RO/DI Water Safe to Drink?

I guess I haven't done my research, but I can't see any reason not to drink DI water. It's pure water, pH 7. It will become more acid in contact with co2 over time. I have drank in often. I guess I will do some more reading on it.

I've been using it for cooking and drinking for about 2yrs now. I've seen my well water hit 15+ppm of No3. I think people under estimate the amount of minerals we get from our food.

It is almost never at pH 7. It would have to be at exactly 20F at exactly 1atm of pressure and be completely and totally degassed. It will almost always be slightly on the acidic side.

on another thread here, someone mentioned that the Ph of the DI water can destroy the enamel of your teeth.

Not sure where that came from, but it's pure bunk. Pure H2O, which is essentially what RO/DI water is, has a pH of 7.0 (or very close to it), which is chemically neutral. There is no way on earth that's going to eat the enamel (one of nature's hardest substances) off your teeth.

I wouldn't doubt it removes fluoride from the water too if you have city water

I have been drinking RODI for about a year now and have seen no negative side effects. We get most of our minerals from our food.

NO NO
Filtered water is for drinking.
RO - So So
RODI - Never
Issue is filtering water of sediment is drinkable. As you continue to strip the water of it minerals and all it is technically not really water anymore. It's liquid nothing. So if you drink it H2O wants the minerals so it will leach them from your body and over time the body will rebel.
Same with your tank.
We strip it clean via RODI however, we then add minerals back to it before it becomes Saltwater.
Filtered water good,
Stripped water bad.

Yes, it's fine. It doesn't suck anything out of your body, it doesn't cause holes in your teeth, and it won't melt the floor if you spill it on it.

It doesn't taste very good but it isn't harmful at all.

This subject comes up at least every year and has been thoroughly beaten. The vast majority of our population eats McDonalds and people think pure H20 is dangerous? Please...

Drinking DI water long term will cause minerals and essential nutrients to actually leave your cells as it dissolves into the water that makes up most of our bodies.
water is the #1 universal solvent our bodies replenishes lost minerals and nutrients from water and as it leaves it takes ammonia and pollutants out. I'm not a doctor but i do test water all day at work.

Please show me some legitimate medical research on this specifically involving a human, rodi water, and a normal diet.

Guess people are not reading the link I posted to the world health organisation report into drinking rodi.

I just read it. And as I read it it seems centered on drinking water systems.

I would imagine the average american who eats a normal american diet with their metric ton of sodium will not have an issue from marginal % of their water intake coming from rodi.

I used it to cut rye. I lived. The bloody mary I had for brunch with regular sodium mix more than offset it.

If y'all are so concerned about minerals - get a remineralization cartridge for post rodi. I've been drinking alkaline water for years.
