Roger need some advice

Roger:

Your help please. I have a 185 gallon tank that is brick style without center braces and is set up for 360 degree viewing with a center overflow. I have also heard this referred to as a "island" overflow. Anyway dimensions of tank are 60" L X 24" W. I do have a free corrider on all sides which of course is where the fish do their laps.

I am considering a wavebox for my set up. But was not sure if my configuation would preclude it. I do understand that one of the glass viewing areas will be partially covered by the wavebox and that a magnetic holder would likely be necessary.

The investment is substantial so I wanted to see if Tunze has any expereince with this configuration and whether waves will be noticable or will the island basically block the wave and create turbulance.

Thanks for the reply.

It should work well because the island overflow will be in the center where the water level will not fluctuate much. I don't see any problems provided you can mount it on one end.

another question.

another question.

Thanks for that bit of reassurance. What do you think about combining the wavebox with a couple of streams hung on the island overflow box facing out towards the edge of the tank. What controller will run them all? Is this likely to work adequately?

The wavebox needs it's own controller which is included. I think that would work but Ideally the Streams would go on the ends as well.

Roger I have a full set up on order. Two 6100s the multicontroller and the wavebox. I have been reading what is available on the website. You indicated above that separate controllers are needed. I noted in one spot on the website it says this:

"A wavebox 6212 and the pumps mentioned above can also be controlled by the Multicontroller"

Can they all be integrated together to work together or is it simply by visual observation and manual adjustment? I understand that the wavebox spips with its own controller. But how is the control of the wavebox accomplished. I guess I am confused.

The wavebox has it's own controller and you have to use it with that. The wavebox controller can be connected to the multicontroller as well but this only adds the ability to turn the wavebox off for intervals of the day. It isn't necessary and is only useful in larger tanks using multiple Streams- yours would qualify if you wanted to try it. Basically it lets you simulate tides more realistically since the wave effect is more noticeable in low tide.
