Roto-Zip tool?

Does anyone have a Roto-Zip I can borrow for 30 minutes (or less)?

I am trying to enlarge the drain hole in a Rubbermaid stock tank so I can put a larger bulkhead in there... My hole saw ain't cutting it, as there is no pilot hole - the saw just flounders around and chews up the tank's exterior...

I have it on good authority that I can mark the size hole I need with a sharpie and a Roto-Zip will cut through the plastic like a hot knife through butter... (okay, maybe not quite that easy) :eek1:

Let me know if you have one I can borrow...

You might try putting a couple pieces of scrap wood up against a wall or something steady, pushing the stock tank up to it, then drilling from the inside pushing toward the scrap wood. That will give you something you can use to drill a pilot hole with your hole saw and it should help keep it steady.

I used your suggestion, combined with running the hole saw in reverse! It actually helped keep the hole saw in one place long enough to get a groove going!

Great! I looked at a Roto Zip today. I'd love an excuse to buy one, but couldn't justify at this time. Gotta at least be able to use it once.

I've got both a dremel and rotozip. You would be amazed at all the little jobs you can find to do with them. Not only that there are alot of cool toys that go with them

A dremel is a good investment, but i have a roto-zip, and i bet i have used it maybe twice in ten years. The dremel does pretty much any job you need that a roto-zip can do and is much smaller and easier to work with.
