Well guys, my 29g is fully stocked and its time to move onto something bigger and better when I get home from vacation. Whats the approximate weight of a 60 gallon tank? I live in an apartment building that was built in the 1800's so im a little concerned. Should I be?

60 gal tank will weigh about 600 lbs full. Be sure you're placing the tank across floor joists - preferably near a load-bearing wall and you'll be fine.

The weight will also depend on what you plan on having in the tank. A gal of salt water is 8.2 pounds, plus weight of rock, sand, filters, pumps, tank, and stand. 600 lbs is a good estiment but will probrably be a little higher.

Slight correction Dave. Seawater weighs in at a little over 8.55 lbs per gallon so the water weight is about 513 lbs. A 60 gallon glass tank is around 120 lbs. So if you have lights, pumps, LR and LS in the tank figure nearly 700lbs. Not to worry however, unless you try to pick a full one up by yourself, even an old home's floor will support it.
