Sand Cloud

I am just starting, and I added play sand to my tank (100 g) and I have the pump going over the top for circulation, but the tank is still cloudy after 3 days? I added a sock to catch some cloudy water but when I go to remove the sock I dump cloudy water back in?

Any suggestions?

Its just going to take time for it to settle. Putting the LR in will help settle it down.

If you happen to have an old/new hang on back filter run it for a few days. If you don't have a filter of some sort just wait it out. It will be ok.

I'm not sure about your choice of sand but that's another issue. Your tank will remain cloudy until bacteria forms on the tiny sand particles and causes them to settle. If you put some live rock in the tank it should clear up in a day. Without the live rock who knows it may be weeks.

Power filters usually clear it up quickly.

The sand is fine, did you add salt yet? If so go ahead and add some live rock. Give it a few days more. Also make sure your flow is not pointed down into the sand.
