Seachem Denitrate

Does anyone have experience with Seachem denitrate? I'm going to put about 16oz of it in a filter sock and put it in my sump. Would this be a good way to use it? I have the Red Sea Reefer 28 gallon and my nitrates are 15-20 so hopefully this helps bring them down. If you have any advice let me know.

Probably not ideal.. per directions.. flow rate should not exceed 50gph..

Are you keeping corals or just fish or what?
And reason you don't just do a water change or 2 to bring them down..

Reef tank and I've already done a few water changes already... It takes a lot of wc's to bring them down significantly. The flow rate should not be a problem in my sump. Any other suggestions?

From my experience, denitrification will not happen as long as the water going through the rocks contains oxygen. It might work if the flow is slow enough for aerobic bacteria doing their job converting ammonia to nitrate and use up the oxygen before the water reaches the areas where anaerobic bacteria is residing. If not, you will end up with nitrate factory as many experience reefers had encounter before.

I've used it, it does work but does get exhausted and your nitrates will rise overnight, and then you have to replace the media. It will only work with low flow preferably through a reactor or canister to limit oxygen.

A 50% WC will drop them 50%
You have a small tank 50% changes are simple..
