Second Annual Coast to Coast Sand Trade!

Mine got here today. That southdown is like a chalky mess. didn't see any life but that does not mean it is not there.
Sand had all kinds of pebbles and stuff in it.
Got it in the tank with the pump off letting it settle.

Just got my tank up and running last weekend so this is perfect timing.

Thanks james.

Got home thursday to find a large garbage bag sitting on my front porch. Opened it to find a wet box. opened the box and foud a good seald bag. ??? I don't know if it leaked or another one did and got my box wet as the bags looked good inside.
Poured it in and didn't really take a close look at it. I checked it about an hour later and found a snail crawling around in the sand. It looks like the other snails I have but I've never seen them in the sand so i don't know for sure where it came from. I'm sure there is a lot of stuff in there anyways.
thanks again james for doing this and I'll be looking forward to participating again next year.

Strange... Wet box sealed bag.....

hmmmm. It has been raining a hell of a lot here... Maybe they left them out in the rain... :)

FINALLY ARRIVED!!!

Got here Saturday. :( Apparently one bag leaked and one was in tact. Both were stone cold. Instead of dumping it straight into my tank, I added to some extra southdown and stuck it in a 10 gallon with a heater and some LR. Didn't smell bad, but 5-6 days :eek1:

Funny thing was, it was plastered with a sticker that said "surface transport only." James, what did you tell them was in this? :p
Well, by the time James gets back from sunning himself in Cancun, I will know what, if anything, is gonna crawl outta this stuff.

Thanks again for all your efforts, James. Hopefully I will have good stuff to report. :)

Maybe? Who knows. All is well though. No bad smell or anything.

I was watching the tank the other day after I had fed it and saw a peice of food on the new sand that was being slowley pulled down into the sand. I couldn't see what was pulling it but something is alive down in there. :D.

Got mine last Wednesday (wow, only 3 days). Turned off my pumps and dumped it in at the bottom, trying not to stir up to much of a storm. Ended up with a dry-ice type of fog in my tank. Looked cool, but my fish were not impressed.

Thanks again for setting this up, Jamesurq.

You are too late for the trade, but I don't think you're too late for the buy off of the extras. James is on vacation and will likely let you know when he gets home if you're elegible for the buy off.

Crackerfish, James is sending out to all the traders first. Then folks like you and I will have an opportunity to buy any leftovers.

I thought he was sending today. No? Actually now that I think about it, I do think he said May 2. Oh well, either is fine with me.

The last time that I talked to James he said the 25th???

I would like to know when I can expect it to come.

Sorry Nathan - I know this thread being so huge it's easy to miss things. I got called out of town on business. I'm actually in the Sheraton Manhattan until Wednesday.

I start shipping again next Monday. I have you down for the 9th - I can shift you to the 2nd if you're in a hurry...

Again - sorry for any confusion...Didn't mean to have you get your hopes up.

Hey James,

Not a problem at all!

I understand how things go. I was in the hospital for about a week for surgery a while back and I'll bet I missed it then.

The 9th is fine. I just wanted to know when it got out so I can panic if its late. Have a safe trip.

Nathan
