I know that you cannot put them on a wavemaker, but what about a timer... 1 hour on... 1 hour off....

I have an oceansmotion revolutions in the tank also.... just looking to randomize the current a little more.

some people have problems getting them started once you turn it off
probably woulnd't be a good idea to put it on a timer either

I agree. Whenever I turn off my Sieo's, I have to manually start them up again. They will not start on their own after plugging them back in.

I had two m1100 on a timer (one hour interval 24/7) for about 6 months and it did fine, guess I gust got lucky. But I've taken them off the timer because I didn't want to push my luck.

It is repeated hard starts that will eventually ruin the pump. You could put it on a timer if you would like. But I think eventaully they would still break down.

i have two in my corners on my 90. I unplug them all the time and run them in different configurations all the time.

Haven't had to manually start one yet. This has been going on for a year or so. both 620's

My 820s have no issues restarting also. I've contemplated putting them on a timer too but never done it yet. I frequently shut them down and start up. No problems, a little rattling sometimes from one is all that happens.

Never had mine have problems.

I would suggest instead, building one of the mods that uses a slow timing motor to make them rotate back and forth, much more effective than turnring them off and on.

If they do not restart - how do you manually get them started? I am picking one up this weekend for a good deal. an 820 that is.

Thanks

To manually restart my 1100's I reach through the output and put pressure on the blue disk ( impeller ) and that usually does the trick. If that fails I will give the disk a little bump or spin with my finger and that will get things going.
