Seio vs Tunze

Are Seio and Tunze powerheads made by the same company? They sure look identical in pictures. If so, why pay more for a Tunze powerhead?

They are not. There are significant differenced, from theTunzes being compatable with controllers and the Seios aren't, to power, to power consumption. Still, the Seios are a good product for what they are.

Well, the Seios do that as well. I've not seen the Tunzes but there's no doubt that the Seios don't have that narrow stong, and undesirable flow either, and instead, push the water in a broader, more preferable way.

Actually, the SEIO contrllers have been announced. I believe there is a thread in the equipment forum. The controller has been talked about for about a year, but is just now making it out.

I would say the main difference is quality. I have both SEIOs and Streams. Streams are the better product. But for the money, SEIOs are good too.

With SEIOs there are incidences of issues with restart after a power loss. It's a quick, simple fix - just nudge the impeller to get it going again.

With Streams, there really aren't any issues.

With Streams, you'll be happy having a top-rated product. With SEIOs, you'll be happy you saved some money. Overall, you'll probably be happy either way you go.

*Also, there are Vortech pumps that are coming out, but I don't know an exact date. The price will be closer to Streams than SEIOs though. You might look at these pumps though, just to cover all your bases.

I was pricing pumps on DrsFS and comparing the Seios and Tunzes and they look identical. Maybe they have the wrong pictures shown.

Just rechecked and it was on Marine Depot. What was I thinking? They are similar but not identical. I must be losing my mind. This is the kind of stuff that scares me about getting older.

This is what reefing does to a person.

Thanks for the supportive words Avi. My sister lives in Westchester and I am from Jersey. How I got to Wichita is a loooong story.
