Shipping Snails

Jason,

I want to order the "special" 50 each of Margarita Snail, Baha Snail, Baha Hermit & Nassarius Snail.

Are you still doing the 50% on dead arrivials? How likely are snails hermits to survive in current weather/shipping conditions.

I live near Salt Lake City, current predicted lows are about 40 degrees.

If the animals are not likely to survive the shipping, I would rather wait a couple of weeks to order them, but the tank is being overrun with diatoms and slime.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Dianne,

It is still 50% right now, but this should change very shortly. Starting to warm up. We will then switch to our breathing bags, which are less expensive to ship and once it gets really nice out we ship the crabs and snails (most) without water and they arrive in really good condition.

Right now we are using regular bags with extra water and larger fish boxes. Means more shipping cost, but they have been arriving very well. There are usually very few doa's. Everyone so often we get an order with major doas though, i believe sometimes FedEX leaves the packages on a cold dock too long or something similar. I would say 90% of the orders come in without problems though.
