should I be running carbon on a new tank?

I just set my tank up, 90g with 30g sump, 100-120lbs of live rock, refugium (nothing in it yet). asm g1-x skimmer. I also have a Aquaclear 110 backfilter, that does 500gph, should I be using the activated carbon in this filter right now? I have nothing in my tank but the rock, some hitchhiker snails etc. Should I run the backfilter with carbon in it at all times?

thanks

you can run the carbon, it will help keep the smell of the curing rock down. i would run the carbon during the cycle, then its up to you if you want to continue using it, just remmeber to change it regulary

ditto on what scrmbld33 said. Most people change it out every 1-2 weeks. I think it also helps get rid of some of the organics in the tank as well. Makes the water look not so yellow.
