hi all. i have a 90g tank with a coralife light fixture with 2x65w pc's and 2x65w actinics. are there any clams i can keep in my tank?

That is pretty weak lighting for a 90 gallon, IMO. I would increase your lighting and wait at least 6 more months before adding a clam.

to clam or not to clam . . .

to clam or not to clam . . .

Roger- You do have a large tank, however, clams need plenty of light such as metal halides, which is what I have in my tank, half the size of yours. Clams are beautiful and I love them. The proper light is not cheap to purchase. You and I have been at this about the same amount of time and I went into it with a plan to give myself all the possible options I might want. Halides do last a longtime but carry an expensive set-up cost, with ballasts, hoods, fans and of course the bulbs themselves. Not to mention there is a great variety in the light spectrum put out by each bulb, depending on your needs. Costs also reflect this difference. I suggest talking to as many people as possible since admittedly I am no expert. I do have a very nice system which I was fortunate to get. Options are out there as are opinions, so check it out. I prefer talking with real experienced people as well as reading. So far I've had greet success. Have fun! Yours, Greg
