I had a tank crash 5 months ago and in the process of re-populating my 65 again - it has been running for the last 4.5months now.

I'm trying to get a general ideal of what / how to populate my 65aga tank. If you have a tank that has a demensions of 36x18x?? - could you post picture of your tank - especially if you have sps / caps / clams.

TIA.

Mine is a 65 g . I have had it running for almost three years now. But it's time to go larger.

Holy Crap!! That tank is SWEET. I have a 65 SPS that I'm working on. I have 2x250 watts XM 20k bulbs. 1 tunze 6000 with controller. mag 9 return pump and I still don't think it's enough flow. But I hope to have mine look like that.

Yes it was TOTM.
One of the most beautiful 3' tanks I've seen

Can only imagine how much nicer in person ...

Thanks fellas! :) I had that tank in our old apartment and didn't have the room to setup my 180...

15 months ago we moved into our house that was built and I now am in the 6' category again with my 180... have now had a trio of regals showed in my avatar among other things... planning on the 8' upgrade:) Now have a 7 month old baby and you know how that goes...

If I dropped this hobby I could probably afford a Ferrari:D

Thanks again fellas... this hobby rocks:D

Heres my 58, its not as tall as a 65. I have two bartletts anthias right now and some small frags, mostly sps. Not much yet but will look pretty sweet if everything grows out nicely.

John - how long have you had your regal angel in your tank? Has it been a model citezen - not nipping on any of your sps?

I like those angels but I've heard that they were monsters.

Milleme - I wish had had opted for a 58 - 58g tank does not have the center brace that I hate so much in my 65aga. Your rock work look great.

Milleme excellent start and rockwork... aquascaping is way too often overlooked...

To-arbitrate, I'm not sure where you've heard they've been monsters... I now have had a trio in my big display for going on a year after having the original one in the 65 for a while... I've been following and contributing to the regal angel thread in the reef fishes forum since 2004... check this out... it's got a ton of info and first hand experiences...

While a book can be written on this, suffice it to say that regals are pretty much as sps safe as you get with large non genicanthus angels... you'll have to keep away from zoanthids and certain lps of course...

Here's two shots... the first with flash under actinics during feeding time with the regals nailing the turkey baster... The second under normal light showing the two larger regals... Not to get off topic but you're the thread starter so I hope it's all good... :bum:

Hey Chris... I guess just do a search on my name... I don't have a thread for the large system yet but you could check out this thread ... That's got the most photos, and FYI I'm not selling frags at the moment... I was ready to post some but back in January I had a minor setback while on a business trip and lost some colonies... fish were fine though...

Another note... www.glasscages.com does a 95 gallon wide for just $225 that is a 65 gallon basically that's 2' wide instead of 18 inches... Of course the ultimate 3 foot tank is their 3 foot cube that's 3'x3'x25"...

Small tanks like these 3 footers should look bigger than they are through appropriate aquascaping... use big pieces of live rock... anyway before the 65 I had a 10 gallon nano that I thought would tide me over until the 180 was up... it didn't... thus the 65:D Here's a few pics... it was featured 4 years ago at nano-reef.com, but I never really showed it on RC... hope you don't mind arbitrate... it's not a 65 but it shows how aquascaping could make a tank look bigger than it is... It was dubbed the "kitchen nano" for obvious reasons... :D

Thanks milleme... I wish my tank looked like yours when I was 15! Beware... I'm 28 now and if I put all the money I've spent on this hobby into a 401k I would be able to retire in 2 years!:D

Keep us updated on the 58!

To-Arbitrate, why dont u cut out the center brace and replace with a thick piece of clear acrylic. I did it to mine and it's holding well. Just use nylon bolts to attach the new acrylic brace to your tank. Took no more than 15 minutes to do.

Hey Copps,
They say some people just have what it takes to setup and maintain a great reef. Well, you've got it plus a bag of potato chips!! Awesome tank and pics.
