, so I had a bad outbreak ich I lost five fish in one week so I decided to take all my fish out and treat them all I would like to know what do you do for quarantine. do you keep all new arrivals for 3 to 4 weeks? Do you treat them for everything? do you quarantine rock frags corals? I'm setting up two qt tanks. One for fish. Other for inverts. Planning on treating them for parasites and then for bacteria infections. I figure cover all I can. If they get sick and die after that at least I know I tried. I know Parasite can come on rocks corals and inverts. So planning on treating rock and corals with Bayer complete. And then keep inverts for a few weeks in a qt. Is this extreme yes but I have taken apart my tank 3 times in the last 4 months to catch a sick fish so I would really really like to stop having to disassemble my tank to catch a sick fish.

I QT sps corals and delicate fish mostly just to get them feeding. only treat if I observe disease in QT.

That setup is sweet. Love the idea of fully removable door. Now are u going to treat prior to putting fish in your new display tank?

Not really. Most of my fish have been with me for over a year (some over 2), and some have been treated already. The newer fish are not ich prone. That said, I am going to leave my ghetto tank running and will use it as an observation tank before going into my display. I was not going to treat my existing fish, just the new additions. I usually just deworm and observe. If I end up adding a tang later on, I will surely do hypo at the very least. My lastest additions have all been from Divers Den, and although I know I should still QT and treat, I felt comfortable just adding them in. I plan to use my ghetto tank as an observation/ QT tank until my main tank is fully stocked. That goes for fish and coral. I also have a couple of ten gallons and a small HOB, heater, etc, if I needed to treat a fish. I know it all sounds backwards, and Matt will likely lecture me, but it is what it is, LOL!

The removable door is nice. On my main tank, I did removable panels on the side, but I did hinges on the front. Works very well!

Sounds good. And yes Matt will chime in soon with a full book on his qt. He has the most extreme qt I have seen so far.
