Hey there Bay Area Reefers!

I haven't seen a post regarding this event on the forum, so was wondering who's going to be coming to the event? :)

In case you don't know about the event, here's some details I found from their website:

It's moved away from the West Valley College location to a new venue in Cupertino. This is nice since getting to the college was a bit confusing and there's also a bar so alcohol is allowed. Parking's free as well for attendees.

Location:
Residence Inn San Jose Cupertino
19429 Steven's Creek Boulevard
Cupertino, CA. 95014

When:
Saturday, September 14th. 11:00AM - 5:00PM

Cost:
$15 at the door. Can pick up tickets from Clear Water Aquarium, SJ Reefs, CVR Club, and BAR club.

It is mostly vendors, but Reef Nutrition, Kessil, Aquatic Life, and CaribSea will be there. Reef Nutrition usually gives away free products, so if you use any of their products getting a bottle alone usually covers the fee of getting in the door. I'm guilty of getting a couple of bottles.

Here's the floor plan:

Hope to see you all this weekend!

Cheers,
Darwin

Was great to see everyone and meet a lot of new bay area reefers! Was really glad it wasn't as tightly packed as the first hotel event. I was behind the Legendary Corals booth and got to talk to a bunch of you guys.

What were some of your pick ups along with any feedback (positive and negative) you guys have for the event? I'll pass it along to Tyree so he can have some info on the next local event.

1. Engage interact. You’re doing it
2. Need super models
3. Venue is cramped. Need elbow room
4. Place the smaller booths towards the front instead of stashing them in the corners
5. Nice to have a specialist speaker or two. Maybe I missed it.
6. Have projector that show reef aquariums or coral reef. Anything to do with reefing.
7. Need entertainment

I thought this new location at Residence Inn was a bit better than the previous location. Seemed bigger and had nearby food options. A bit further of a drive for people not located in the South Bay. Maybe next year choose a more centralized city in the Bay Area such as Hayward, Union City or Fremont?

Also some type of security camera set up covering the floor would be nice. I heard there was a thief in the crowd that stole an ATO from one of the vendors, Tiger Lily's House of Fish. So unfortunate since it was their first time participating at CFM and they are a LFS near Santa Cruz. With the recent thefts at Neptune's I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same SOB.

WTH? Hella shady!

New location was cool as it was in a whole plaza full of food with a Target. Gave the wife the CC and told her go shopping at Target with the 2 kids and leave me alone!

HAHAHA JK! Whole family enjoyed CFM but it was a little bit cramped to say the least.

I like the new location. Maybe more activities for beginners to expand the hobby. I was also looking for supplies and fishes as well.

The location was excellent. There were restaurants, wine bars, plenty of shopping just outside the building for (significant others) to take a break. The room didn't have too much natural light so it stayed cool and you could see the corals better.
