Yes I researched this over and over when building my sump. The tube says not for aquariums but it does work ( I think it is a legal thing). I used a ton of the stuff and had no ill affects. Ironically an old tube of aquarium silicone turned colors on me when mixed with GE. You will save a ton of money.
I used ge 1 window and door and its turning a yellow green color? Ive used the aquarium stuff with no color change. I researched it to before going with the cheap stuff.
silicone I doesnt have the anti bacteria in it that is only Silicone II, if you want to use the best silicone for aquariums that will hold up to 450G (its what seaworld uses) get GE Monentive ATV108 it has close to triple the tensile strength of GE Silicone I
What will happen if silicone II where used, I just used it on a tank that is not set up yet. what I understand is that only the immediate area will be free of bactiria? Is this correct? thanks
as far as i know i wouldnt risk it in any reef tank or any tank with LR, it could leach into the water and then you have a real issure on your hands...your better off just getting silicone I or ATV 108 for it and being safe right off the bat
