I have just started running my skimmer full time. It is a roughly 4 year old ATI Bubblemaster 250, that I purchased used, which had not been run in like 18 months. I replaced the mesh with the Red Demon pinwheeles in 2 PSK2500's. I have the gate valve wide open, and the skimmate is still reaching the top on the column, not overflowing, and for now it seems happy there. In other words, I can not turn it down any further. It is sitting in about 8 1/2 inches deep water in the sump. With this situation, how long can I expect the breakin period to be? Will the foam/water column drop down and I need to close down the gatevalve as it does break in?
Skimmer break-in period?
