Skimmer flipping out after VC overdose.

I have a Octopus NW 150. its been running awesome for almost a year now.

I started dosing VC a little too fast and it cause a bacteria outbreak with cloudy water and all corals closing up.

This was 2 days ago. Everything seems fine now since i did a water change and stopped dosing. I set my skimmer to the dryest skimmate possible. As soon as i kick it on the cup over flows with wet skim.

Any ideas why this is happening or how i can fix it?

If you are dosing VC, I would recommend you read the thread about it in the Zoanthid forum...there is a lot of info in there about what to expect. I believe that skimmer flip out is typical!

Mine flips out as well, everytime I dose VC. I usually just set it really low and give it time and the skimmer will line back out. Then you can adjust it back up.

So... what is the supposed benefit to dosing vitamin c?

I think I may have found my research project for BIOL 470...

Hmmm... very interesting results. I'm definitely going to look into it. I'll talk with my prof tomorrow (Monday), and see what we can come up with.
