im an addict lol
Ok I know this is not generally a chemistry ? But I thought maybe u would be able to use chem to help some how?

Everytime I change my filter sock my skimmer goes nuts for hours. I wash them in washing machine turned inside out with a splash of bleach. Then I let them air dry for a few days and up to a week or so and skimmer always goes nuts.

What I have tried to do to fix.

I filled a 5 gallon bucket with rodi water and dunked it in the bucket over and over. The weird thing was the water started to make suds in the water.

Do u have any ideas on how to get the skimmer to stop doing this? I'm starting to change filter sock less often because I want the skimmer to run but that's no good either. I really need to stop this problem.

Thanks for any help

Roger

I agree on the soap. Can I wash in washing machine then rince with regular tap water then us it in the tank after that?

When I wash my skimmer sock in the washing machine, I set the machine to a double rinse cycle and have never had a problem.

No need to use soap. Just use bleach with a double rinse. The felt socks for some reason always make my skimmer foam heavy. Try the nylon socks instead if it's a problem for you.

Maybe you have residual soap in the tub of your machine? If it has been used for a long time and it isnt one of the new HE machines, it is possible there is soap residue between the drum and the tub which is being added to the water. Just an idea, maybe your machine is soapy.

I think that is very posible it is an HE washing machine.I think I'm going to try a methode that dosnt use the washing mashine.

At least a couple of hours, sometimes when I see it's getting close I'll put it in the day before. When I travel I leave one in the pitcher, when my maintenance guy comes once a week he puts one in before he leaves so it ready next time he comes

When I wash mine, I first turn the water level to high and do a rinse cycle, then turn it to low and wash the socks with bleach, let it dry for a week, never had the problem.

^^^ This

Run a rinse cycle before you wash your socks.

Also, it is a clear indication you are using too much soap when you wash your clothes. Trust me, you don't need as much as they claim. All that soap that is causing your skimmer to foam is also still in your clothes and on your skin. Use less.
