Skimmer in overflow?

I'm thinking of installing a Comline skimmer in an overflow of an 180g. I know the water level needs to be kept constant for the skimmer to work well, any thoughts on other issues? There is room in the overflow...

If there is room it should work, it needs a constant 10" or so. You also don't want a torrent of water going through.
