i have a 24g aqua-pod, no extra sump, just stock sump in the rear of the tank. I know I don't have much room to work with, so I am looking for is a skimmer that will fit in the rear and will not interfear with my hood (so I may still close it) Any suggestions are welcomed. I have considered doing an out of tank skimmer and connecting it to through the back of the tank to the sump via drilling, has anyone done this approach before? I looked into the fission skimmer but have yet to hear a good review of it, I have heard some say that aqua c is coming out with one, any word if that will sit in the sump of my aquapod? Thanks for any help you can give me in advance.

Salty, read the guys post. Since it is obvious you know nothing about the specs of the Aquapod, why offer a solution that has nothing to do with the problem? A css will not fit in the Aquapods sump area. I am trying to come up with a solution to this same problem. Everyones pat answer is to hang a CSS or Remora on the back. Great solution EXCEPT if you want to keep the hood....which is the main reason a lot of us bought the da*n things. The two main solutions I can come up with is

1. Drill the back and put in bulkheads and run an external sump. Then you run into all of the problems of needing a controller to shut things down to prevent overflows, empty sump/pump burnout, suction sound, yadda yadda yadda.

2. Custom engineer something that will fit. I am looking at maybe a counter current skimmer that might work.

The main issue is the space allowed. It would have been nice if the mfgr had made the sump area larger and built in a skimmer or designed the lid so you could hang something on the back. It looks like their target was for the freshwater crowd considering the filter system they give you.

sorry, that i am not familiar with the aquapod system, but first of all i asked how big the sump was, and I never got a response, and I believe that he said "any suggestions welcome", so I gave him one recommending the skimmer that I have.
