A sedra 5000 is way too underpowered for a skimmer that size.

I disagree with the nitrate issues. I run at the moment a Berlin classic on my 90 gallon display my Bullet 3 is not hooked up at the moment im waiting for the sump to finish. But I have undetectable nitrates and such and i have a heavy bio load in my tank. Protein skimming cant be the only colperate to your high nitrates at the moment.
Yes they can help the nitrate issue but i dont believe this is the only reason
