skimmer selection

So ive been looking at numerous threads , reviews and online . I am more lost in skimmer selection it seems everyone has something different to say about skimmers ! My question is as long as one is spending some decent money on a skimmer from any reputable brand and proper size is it possible to buy incorrect skimmer ? I know this may seem like a redundant question but sorta lost on what to buy as everyone has there own opinion on skimmers and personally just want to buy one once until it wears out or upgrade to a larger tank

There are now many good skimmers on the market, I would look for a skimmer with a quality pump since the pump is key to performance, longevity and noise produced. Generally you are going to get what you pay for, so if you find a new skimmer at a very low price don't expect much.

Thats what im getting at provided i spend decent money on a skimmer and a reputable brand assuming most skimmers should suffice , ie reef octopus or vertex and such , trying to get at if this makes sense ?

There are so many skimmers out on the market I am saying they should be all good as long as it is a good brand and dont buy a real cheap one

If you are looking for recommendations I love the AquaMaxx skimmers, very well constructed, skim great and they run quiet.

Aquamaxx for me too.

as this has been mentioned numerous times in this thread i have to laugh spent the afternoon today plus other hours looking at skimmers i came up with aquamaxx as a winner for my selection ! I will check out deltec i never heard or seen them !

Is anyone running a neck cleaner for their skimmer ?
