Skimmer Trade ...Evolution 500 for ASM G3

I have an Evolution 500 I am looking to trade for a G3 any takers?

What pump are you using with it? is it included??

Sorry I should have put that on there, it is a MAG pump I believe it is a 12. It has also been modified with 2 gate vales.

O'Yeah ....yes the pump is included as long as there is a pump on the G3 ....working skimmer for workking skimmer

Nothing to be sorry about. I am still reading on it some. I have a working ASM G3 of course with a sedra 9000 on it currently. I also have a new shaft coming for the sedra 5000 that comes standard on the G3. Skimmer and 5000 are 1 year old this month.

Sounds good, just let me know and you can see it work but it would have to be in the sink lol as I am in the middle of a tank move.

See what happens. I have heard good things about them. See how they compare to the G3 though. Any reason you are getting rid of it?

I am looking to trade for a G3 for 2 reasons, this runs a little too dry for me and it is sensative to water depth changes so I am constantly adjusting as I do no have a filter room for constant drip to compansate for evaporation. If you can get past that then this thing is a great skimmer it will remove some of the smaller particals that a G3 wont ( cigarette smoke, dust, etc...)

With all of that said I think the G3 would be a better fit for me until I move into a house that I can set up a filtration room.

Let me read up some more. Would not be an even trade if you wanted both pumps though. I prefer to get rid of the G3 with both pumps as would not have a need for them anymore. We would need to discuss that.

Is this thing quiet? From what I have found online, a bigger pump or a higher pressure pump is needed to really make this thing skim well.

Yes it is very very quite, also with this pump it does very good IMO

I have not read if the outlet drain needs to be above the water line or can it be submerged?? Do you have any pics of this thing since it has the dual drains? Why the dual drains by the way? I know a lot of questions. Sorry. Just trying to educate myself.

well I dont have pics but I will try to get some.

There are not dual drain but there are dual gate valves for tuning.
One comming off of the Mag and the one on the drain. And currently I have the drain submerged, but I do know this can be ran as an external or in-sump skimmer so I would assume if the pump were strong enough it could be above the water line......

I spoke to the owner Gary...he said I may want to consider the 600 being that I mainly house SPS and am looking for perfect or as close as you can get to perfect water. He advised me that the 500 was more for organic removal than anything else.
