snail babies?

I was looking around my tank this morning and noticed a ton of small nails on the glass and LR. They look like little turbos, about the size of a BB. I've had this tank set up the same for a year without any new additions. Has anyone had this happen?

Yes, this has happened in my tank. What you are seeing are perhaps baby snails. However, I have never done any research on them so I'm not really sure how they come to be.

If you purchased live rock within the last week, the snails then would have come from the live rock.

its very possible, i have tons of baby ceriths it seems that it just happens, they dont have a chance to get to big though i think the hermits eat them, free clean up crew is always good

There is also a very good chance that these snails are of the colonista brand. They stay very small, and reproduce quite readily. They don't do much other than eat "some" algae. They just add to the bio-diversity.

All of my snails reproduce in my tank(Astreas, ceriths, and nassarius). They always end up in the fuge where most of them survive to adulthood, then they get sold or put back in the display. The few that are left in the display are usually eaten by my Sixline.
