Soft and LPS corals coexisting

I want to keep both, I really like alot of species of LPS corals, I would love to have a large green frogspawn in my coming tank but at the same time I want some flowing softies in there also. Can they coexist together? I have seen some LPR corals in alot of sopposed Softy only tanks.

Absolutely. I have both soft and stoney corals. I think you do need to pay extra attention to where you place what, though. Try to keep your stoney corals upstream from your soft corals. Also do a little research into the toxicity of some of the soft corals. Some are worse than others. I also run carbon 24/7 just to be safe, but I think most of the soft corals really only release significant toxins if they feel threatened. So far, I have a candy cane, open brain, hammer, favites, finger leather, cabbage leather, xenia and mushrooms. They're all growing and getting along quite well. I know there are many others who have kept mixed tanks with just as much success.

yep, i have a toadstool and a kenya tree in my lps jam packed reef. i keep them high and isolated from the rest of the tank. if they feel threatened or get stung, they are sure to release some toxins. also keeping lps out of direct flow from a softy is important as islandcrow mentioned.

They can definetly coexist. My reef has a mix of soft and lps.i need to do some rearanging. But it is working sort of now.I just realized that I love lps so more to come.

Thanks for the comments, I will make sure to keep my soft corals down stream from my LPS corals and to arange then correctly. I think I will sort of make an elevated pile of live rock next to the overflow and keep most of my soft corals on there. This a good plan?

That sounds like a pretty good plan. Most of your stoney corals are going to want more light anyway, so separating them vertically as well as horizontally in the tank should work out just fine. If I can ever find the article I like to reference talking about the toxicity levels of certain soft corals, I'll post a link here. In general, though, it doesn't seem to be quite as much of an issue as I originally thought it was, though.
