Soft Coral Question (noob)

My 120g tank has been up and running for 2 weeks now. The 120lbs of live rock I put in the tank (from a reputal dealer) has soft coral growing here and there on it. 3 colonies of green star poly, kenya trees, and 2 little frag colonies of xenia. I added another 9lb rock in tank, 7-8 mushroon flowers opened up, and 1 zoothaid (sp?).

IF I wanted to remove all this down the road, what is the best way? chocolate chip star fish and some butterflies and angel fish?

thanks

Frank

That would work but no guarantee they would get it all. I would suggest cutting the Xenia and Kenya as close to the rock as you can, possibly scrape it then take a toothbrush to it. I have done this to get rid of Xenia, I ran extra carbon just in case. The GSP can be scraped up or possibly peeled off if you get under the purple mat. As far as the Zoa's, you can cut under them or break the rock off they're attached to. If you cut them you risk them releasing toxins in the water, which is never good. Mushrooms, cut the foot then scrub. I would decide sooner than later as most of those coral can take over a tank quickly.

By not adding coral eating fish/creatures you can house other coral later if you decide to take that route. If not, put in what you wish and what they don't take care of finish off yourself.

Good luck!
