Amiphods are big enough to look like 'tiny' shrimp. What you have is Copepods. You should get a magnifying glass and take a look at them. You can tell the difference between females/ males and you can even see the pregnant females. When I first discovered them in my tank I spent almost 5 hours one night with my face pressed against the glass with a diamond magnifying glass. You could also get a stamp magnifying glass for very cheap at a flea market or somewhere like that. You want something in the 8x to 10x range.

copes are real small, redish color, about the size of a flea or smaller
