Some opinions on new sump in garage. PICS

p.s. matt...u need to talk ur parents into putting fragtanks on every shelf in ur garage! You'd start banking bigtime! If we ever sell the porsche and clean out the garage, and my fragtank i just setup pays for itself I'm going to nag the parentals into letting me setup a little one rack system in the garage. It's like selling drugs (everyones addicted and needs their fix!) except it's 100% legal!

On a side note: You mentioned that it is your dad that doesn't like the noise, etc from the current set up and his solution is to move it to the garage that is also going to be his new office?

Okay maybe I didn't explain that very well. My dads old office will be put in the garage but it's not actually going to be his main office, just a place for files, old computer, and other misc. stuff.

My dad hates the fact that the sump makes noise just feet from where we are going to have Thanksgiving dinner. He also doesn't like the idea that the skimmer or tank could overflow if there was some problem and get water all over the house.

The garage is built on a slight slope so if for some reason the skimmer/sump were to overflow it would go outside.

Keith I will give you a call tomorrow to check out your frag tank.

Thanks

Not exactly sure why most folks are choosing option D as your sump layout. I would prefer C. You are still getting the depth and you can control the amount of flow through your fuge area which is very important. You won't be able to do that with option D.

Thanks for the information. I got all the basic designs from Melevsreef.com and they all seem good. I currently run "C" but the flow through the refugium is not very good. I am still on the fence, not sure which one.

Oh and the gorilla shelving units were from Sams club for $120 each. They hold 3k on each shelf at breaking point.
