ok ive got a deresa thats about 5-6 inches that ive had for well over a year. a month or so ago he started acting funny. stayed closed up 80% of the way all the time. having made no changes to cause this i was stumped, and figured moving him would be my next course of action. when i went to move him i noticed his shell shifts heavily with little effort (even when he's completely clamped up.this of course bugged me but i couldnt do anything about it.
well he's been moved for about 3 weeks now and is still in the same condition. i tried freshwater dipping him with alittle iodine last night and today he's stayed closed (although i can see he's still alive) all day. anyone know whats going on and what would be my best course of action?

i wouldnt move it any more, just let it be for now.
what fish do you have? what have you added to the tank lately?(tell us everything even if it was a snail)did you change your bulbs?what would you call your tank,SPS,LPS SOFTY,MIX? lay it all out for us please X.

its a 65g lps tank with a few leathers and a few sps. most of the tank is blastos, micros, acans and challices. the only things ive added since the clam started acting this way is a lord frag, le watermelon challice, and a 7 headed dendro.
its got 2 250w mh's (10k) over the tank, and is skimmed pretty wet by a aqua c.
params are always stable on all ends. no big flucuations in anything in the last year at least. 7 hour light cycle.
no fish at all. some nas and turbo snails, bluelegs and redlegs.
had him on the sb his whole life, moved him half way up the rock work when he turned for the worse, recently moved him back down to the sb since he showed no improvment from the move.
i have noticed a time or two that bristle worms like the little slot on the underside of him were the bisal threads come out and they kinda nestle in there but im just confused on whats going on still.
he still is remaining shut all the time

X do you feed anything to the tank? im just thinking that if you have no fish then there isnt much DOC or DIN in the tank. also it may not have liked the increased lighting. If you dont add phyto why dont add some and see if it helps

thanks mbbuna ill give dt's a try. i used to dose it but about a year ago i stopped because it seemed to foul my water more then it actually helped. and with all my clams being over 5 inches i didnt think itd be needed. but maybe your right and this can get him to open back up before he's a goner.
