I am new to this and my tank has been up for about 4 months a friend gave me a green stripped mushroom and it settled in nice doing well until 4-5 days ago, something seems to be eating it. All thats left is the very center that is attached to the rock - any clues? My friend suggested I watch it during the nite to see if anything comes out and gets on it but I'm no night owl - thanks for any advice

To Reef Central!

I am sure you will find it a great forum to be apart of!

On topic, the nuissance that is causing your green striped mushroom to appear as it is being eaten maybe caused by this little bugger.

That's a worm that is nocturnal that preys upon snails, crabs and some sessile inverts. There are many species out there. You could easily have gotten a type of worm that eats corals through your liverock. Its kind of scary in a way. Not to mention, these worms can get huge. I think someone found a worm in their tank that was 7 feet long. I almost cried when I saw it.:D

Well, if you really do have on of these worms in your tank, then your going to have to randomly check your tank during the night with a flashlight to find this little bugger.
