Spa Flex glue?

regular does work but IMO I would use the blue color specifically made for spa flex I have had a few connections that didn't seed just right using the thiner regular pvc glue, if you have nothing else and are in a pinch go for it with the regular, if you are not in a pinch and going to HD to pick up supplies then I can see no reason why you would not pick up the glue made specifically for spa flex unless you are worried about the dollar or two more in cost and in that case you shouldn't be in this hobby

LOL I am not worried about a few dollars i'll get the glue for spa flex and maybe ill plumb the tank this weekend

Well I went to the Oatey website that is the cement HD and Lowes carries and they do make one just for spa flex or flex pvc as they call it so im hoping it'll be on the shelf if not ill use another medium body cement they carry.

As for the Purple Primer it is not used for flex they just say to use the cleaner and cement it, Give it a twist as you slide it into the fitting hold it for 30 seconds or a minute and your done. (lol)

Personally I think NEITHER is the right glue and so EITHER glue will work.

What are we glueing the spa flex to? - Ummm PVC more than likely.

If you use PVC glue it is right for the PVC and wrong for the spa flex.
If you use the Spa Flex glue it is right for the spa flex and wrong for the PVC. (unless it also says that it can be used for PVC which I do not know if it does or not)

EITHER will work.

Personally - I saved my few dollars and used PVC glue on all my spa flex connections cause that's what I had on hand because I was working with PVC.
NO LEAKS.

Just my .02

So after reading what Chuck's .02 was this morning I decided to send an email to Oatey and see what they would recommend for connecting spa flex to pvc fittings that would have saltwater running through it and I got a response from Rob Emery at Oatey,

"We have several brands of cements that are ideal for flexible PVC. The Oatey brand I would recommend would be The Oatey Rain R Shine Blue. The United Elchem product would be Pool Tite Medium "Hot" Blue Cement. Both would work fine for the application."

So I went to HD and got what I needed so I'll be getting my glass cut for the fuge and doing some plumbing tomorrow. Maybe one of these days ill start a thread and post all the pictures i've taken
