I needed to buy a replacement di cartridge and my local fish store gave me a different model number. The one that came out brand new was di-sb-ci-10 and they gave me di-sb-10hc. I do know that it is the non color changing but it was not necked down at the top like my old one. What is the difference and is there a problem using it?

Don't see any problem with that cartridge as a replacement but like you stated it's not color indicating.

What I'm wondering is why is it not tapered at the top like the old one.

The one you got is a high capacity silica buster cartridge, it holds 33% more capacity than the standard SilicaBuster™ DI cartridge. Like was said your new one is not color indicating, but it has 33% more resin. HTH

So its actually a better cartridge then. Just wanted to make sure it was okay. Tds went back down to 0 so its working.
