I bought some knobbly green/brown mushroome the other day and have noticed them spitting out a slimy mucus every now and then, is this their way of reproducing or is there something wrong with them?
They do this when agitated sometimes. When they will split you will see 2 mouths form and they will start to seperate from eachother. I would not worry about it at ALL unless they shrivel up.
Mucus is their protection (and a bad one at that ). All it seems to do is keep us from supergluing them!
