sponge filter

I have been seeding a new sponge filter in one of my established tanks for a few weeks now. I'm ready to transfer it to a bare bottom tank to be used for a nursery tank.

Question: To avoid the possibility of transferring any "bad" critters like bristle worms, etc., should I do a fresh water dip or any other dip on the sponge filter before I transfer it to the new tank? I just want to be careful.

No, just transfer it. Any medication most likely will kill any hitchikers that make there way into the nursery.

I'd just transfer it too. If you find anything you don't want in the larvae tank you can just siphon it out. You could rinse it in salt water I guess. I wouldn't bother.
