Spray Bars

I am think of adding a spray bar, in a 180 gallon.
Right now I have a mag18 split between 2 returns and I was going to put a spray bar on one of them and I was wondering if this should add better flow to the tank?
I also have a closed loop for my UV and that is being pushed by a rio 2600, plus five power heads stratigically placed through out the tank.

Thank you, Rich-

a mag 18 is way to small for a return on a 180 IMO I will be using a blue line 55 pressure rated and a sequence barracuda for a closed loop I may put a spray bar on one of the returns behind the rock

I have a custom made spray bar on my 180. I made it at my shop. You are welcome to come and see it if you would like.

I already have a pretty good idea of how to make one I jsu want to know the benifits of them?

Thank you, Rich-

spray bar

I made a spray bar and have it in the back on the bottom behind the rocks blowing forward. It keeps detritis from settling. Very easy to do and works very well.

By the way unless you UV is HUGE (150+ watts)you are most likely passing way to much water through it. They require slower flow rates. Also I would not use a RIO for anything they have wiped out many peoples tanks completely. Do a search ...get a mag drive instead!!!

Yeah I do wnat to replace the rio but takes cahs to do that:( but for now the UV is a 40 watt but I have a gate valve slowing it down to about 1/3 of the flow.
