How many SPS Keepers use Phosband, and has it helped your system? Also would like to see pics of your system.

Yes, none of the green stuff anymore....

I was for 6months plus but have stopped recently due to a tank swap and some lightening of corals

Wow blstravler, your tank looks great. I see you use Ozone also. Do you think the Ozone is a big help? I have a BB tank, and I didn't have any problems with nutrient levels until I was given a Moorish Idol. Because of him I have to feed several times a day,and my nutrient level shot up. I have a very large skimmer, and 80 watts of UV. I also do water changes every two weeks of 60 gal at a time. My SPSs look great, but I'm getting an algae build up. I think I need to add some extra help to my system. Ted

reefrubble - i thought you meant phosban but w/ all the new products coming out i didn't know if it was a new po4 remover

i've used phosban for years. works good. i've recently picked up some rowaphos and have been mixing the two so that i save some $$. i like them both

With that huge sump you could add a refugium, thatââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s all I use on my tanks and I have no problem algae at all. Phosphates are almost undetectible. My system has no other filtration and has been running over five years. I had a problem years a go with a phosphate remover that killed all my mushrooms, it was when Berlin systems were all the rage. I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t like to use any type of chemical filtration anymore, natural filtration is better and cheaper, imo. I use cheap florescent home depot outdoor flood lights for both my refugiums on my 180 and 30 gallon reefs. Lights Of America 27 watt florescent area lights, they have 150wats of output. They even sell for around seven dollars, 6500K replacement bulbs that would be perfect for a small reef tank, the light is a crisp blue white light. They are sold in the same location as the fixtures, the fixtures are around $29.00.

I looked through your gallery and your tank is beautiful!
Nice work !

Good luck.:)

Thanks M. Python, I'll check out the lights, but I still want to hear more about Phosban,Phoslock, ect. Also want to know about Ozone. Ted

No, they have 27 watts of output. That 150w is a comparison to incandescant bulbs, and no one around here uses them anywhere in their tanks, so the comparison isnt germane.

Theyre the same as any other 27w 6500K PC.

27 watt power compact would be enough light and I know of a lot of people using these lights for their refugiums. Over a small nano tank I canââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t see why you couldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t use these lights, the bulbs are cheap to replace and give off the proper spectrum.

Sorry to hijack this thread..but will you always have a brown color tint comming from the effluent of the Gfo or will the water eventually turn clear? I'm asking this because I have a slight brown tint in my effluent and I have been using my phosphate media for a week.
