SPS tank and over skimming

Have a 150 gallon sps tank and wanted to upgrade to a My Reef Creations 2 protein skimmer. It is rated for systems over 300 gallons. Is over skimming a "bad thing"
Don't want to strip the tank of nutrients

I have a 65 gallon system, medium bioload, and I have an asm g4 "rated" at 350 gallons. A skimmers "rating" really means nothing if you look deeper into it. If your tank seems deprived of nutrients, feed more, or dry up the foam. Most people that have 150 gallon displays run skimmers that are "rated" for 300-500 gallons if you look arround in people's build threads.

I'm redoing my system will be total water volume of about 1000 gallon (600 gal FOWLR, 150 gal reef, and 300 gal sump) Going to be running Deltec skimmer rated for 2100. IMO more skimmer the better.

I don't think over skimming will cause browning out. Ultra low nutrients will cause lightning of colors, but browning is usually a result of excess nutrients or insufficient light.

agreed, I think whenever my corals were browning out was generally when they weren't getting enough light (bulbs due for change, corals dislodged, etc)
