Hey All,
I have just received my first tridacnid, and am naturally nervous about how things are going. The tank is a 20 gallon reef, with 130W of PC light, which should be adequate for the guy (it shouldn't be too hard to find it a new home when it gets too big). It spent about 30 hours in a bag on the way here from Clams Direct. I spent 2 hours acclimating under the actinics last night, and it opened nicely once it was on the bottom. It responded very well to the lights this morning (see photo).
My only concerns are the light centers of the spots, and the fact that it has shed a few strings of zooxanthellae, Is that normal during adjustment? Should the lights be off? Anything else I should worry about?
