Stand with adjustable feet any good?

I will be moving my tank into its final resting place shortly and I will need to adjust the level of my tank because of the floor.

The stand has factory adjustable feet should I take these off and adjust with shims, or should keep them on then adjust the level with them and then pack the gaps with shims?

How do you actually shim a stand to level?

Thanks

Ok, so basically a 40 breeder for us on the other side of the pond.

What type of flooring are you on? Hardwoods, tile, etc?

The concern with stands that have "feet", is that all of the tank weight is now on a few square inches, rather then a few square feet. So a liberal weight for a 40 gal tank might be around 400 pounds, which is 100 pounds per foot on a stand. But if you are on hardwoods or tile (maybe even carpet, depending on the sub floor and your other equipment), then I think it would be fine.

The leveling feet are very useful, but they can be a little small.

A great option to increase the surface area that is bearing weight, would be to add a small square block of wood (or other strong material) under each foot.

It's laminate flooring.

Hi tanks for your reply.

If I adjust the feet to level then the tank will only be supported by the feet rather than all the way around the perimeter? As there then will be a gap around the bottom of the stand to floor?
If I put blocks of wood under each foot would this not increase the gap between the floor and stand.

Im not big on pressures and weight distribution.

I replied in your other thread. It's generally a good idea to only create one thread, cross posting just breaks up the discussion and makes it confusing for everyone.
