I have a red fromia star. He never bothers my corals and my fish don't bother him. He's small and perfect size for a 55. I feed my tank BRS Reef Chili and run ZEOVit. He's been in there 3 months. My trick was I found one who has lived In a home aquarium before. Starfish aren't hard to keep alive, you just need to make sure that your water is super stable. Most don't like to be transported so if you can find one on your local reef group that has been kept alive in a home aquarium you're golden. I also target feed him all kinds of stuff but I'm not sure what he eats.
He is super active and moves around constantly. Every week or two he will wedge himself under a rock for a day or so to the point where I have no idea where he's at, then he will come out again. I imagine he's somewhere eating whatever he found.
